BER Assessment

BER Assessment

BER (Building Energy Rating) is an important tool for both the homeowner and building owner, providing valuable information about the energy efficiency of their property, allowing areas for improvement to be found. In Ireland, all buildings must have a BER certificate if they are being built, sold or leased. This has helped to increase the energy efficiency of buildings in the country and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

We at 3DS Planning Consultants Ltd are happy to announce we now provide BER assessments for all domestic buildings as part of our ever-expanding services. We will carry out BER assessments with the highest of accuracy, once we have been able to generate a rating for your home, we will then advise on the best upgrades to bring your home to a B2 energy rating or higher.

What is an energy rating?

The Building Energy Rating (BER) is an indication of the energy performance of this dwelling. It covers energy use for space heating, water heating, ventilation, and lighting, calculated on the basis of standard occupancy. It is expressed as primary energy use per unit floor area per year (kWh/m2/yr). ‘A’ rated properties are the most energy efficient and will tend to have the lowest energy bills. Where “G” is the lowest energy rating and will yield the poorest results for your energy bills.

There are a number of factors that can affect the rating of a BER, ranging from age of construction of the dwelling to the heating system and controls.

Once we have established the current rating of your home, we will be able to take you through the process of how to obtain a better rating, we will also be able to advise you on your eligibility for grants going for private homeowners.
